The Arizona Wildcats may have won their first national title since 1986 with a 4-1 victory over two-time defending champion South Carolina on Monday night, but all the talk Tuesday is about what transpired during the seventh-inning stretch.
In an effort to set some sort of Guinness world record (or because all of their blood alcohol levels were peaking at just the right spot to storm a baseball field), four fans tried to accomplish what crazy fans have been trying to accomplish for years—get onto the field and make it safely across to the other side.
Like most great baseball field expeditions, this one failed.
You’ll notice in the video that fan No. 1 simply didn’t have the athletic endurance. Fan No. 2 didn’t fare much better. Fan No. 4 gave us some hope with his impressive strides, but his leap (or lack thereof) up the left field wall was what the kids call an epic fail.
If you’re wondering why I skipped over Fan No. 3, I was saving the best for last. Fan No. 3, the only female of the quartet, became the most famous person at the stadium that night for grabbing not one, but two Arizona player’s butts. Classic.
If you need an excuse to watch the College World Series next year, this is it.
