I’m just waiting for the ceiling to fall in…
It appears that there might some unrest in Minneapolis because reports are surfacing that the Twins are “optimistic” that they can re-sign Joe Mauer. Optimistic? Huh?
Let me get this straight. You have one of the best players of the past 15-20 years playing in your team. He’s the reigning MVP. He’s FROM Minnesota. He’s only played for you. He’s a prize CATCHER (where do you find those anymore?) He’s a good-looking dude. The face of your franchise. Everything you ever wanted him to be and more. Men want to be him and women want to be with him. Hubba-hubba-ding-ding-baby-he-makes-your-heart-sing and you CAN’T get a deal done with him?
Remember when there was talk of contraction and the Twins ended up on the “potentially contracted teams” list? I mean, I remember defending them to the sky for having 2 titles even though they cheated their way to one of them (1991 with Kent Hrbek pulling Ron Gant off 1st base). I said that Kirby Puckett was one the greatest power hitters of all time (even though he’s a raving lunatic). Then what do they go and do? They can’t even re-sign their best player who happens to be playing for his hometown team?
The Twins deserved to be contracted earlier this decade and now I think we all see why. Of all the things they could do to make things harder on the denizens of Minnesota after the Vikings (Brett Favre) gave away the NFC title to the Saints the Twins can’t go out and get an extension done with their best (and favorite) player.
What form of incompetence is this!? Honestly, I think there’s a conspiracy in the works against the good people of Minnesota. There’s no way in the world they could get killed in the NFC Title Game and then have to wait for the Twins’ season to start only to have their “favored son” unextended going into training camp.
You can say it isn’t a big deal, but this should have been a slam dunk…and it isn’t. This isn’t good.

Do you have any facts to back you’re ridiculous rantings? If not why write? You have nothing to base this on besides an articles stating the word ‘optimistic?’
