Hello, just a short rant today. Today pitchers and catchers are in full swing. Well I guess not quite swinging yet but throwing and catching. That means we’re just days away from baseball games. Until those games come we have the winter Olympics to keep us occupied and happy. The USA is having a strong winter showing. Yet, what is ESPN and much of the sports media fixating on now? Tiger Woods’ statement. They media is repeating it over and over as they analyze it and give opposing views much as they would a presidential speech.
Here’s the thing, Tiger messed up. He did what many other athletes and non-athletes have done, he cheated on his spouse, over and over and over. We get it. He was and probably still is the best golfer in the world. He is if not a billionaire than very close to a billionaire. We get that. I think if we learn anything from this is that it doesn’t matter how good you are at golf or baseball or checkers you’re still human. And humans are all vulnerable to temptation and mistakes. (Ask Koby, Ask Magic, Ask A-Rod.)
Tiger made a mistake, a huge mistake but not an unusual one. He acknowledged it, the media showed it now it is time to move on. Was it a controlled statement? Yes of course it was. Was he sincere? Who knows? It really isn’t any of our business. It’s time to forgot about Tiger’s private life and concentrate on what he does on the golf course when he finally returns to the tour. Let’s not make this story any bigger or any more dramatic. Hopefully tomorrow the press will be more focused on The Detroit Tigers than Tiger. Woods.
Hey, it could happen, especially if the Tigers do sign Johnny Damon.
