The Rangers Need To Take Their Time

Josh Hamilton and Ian Kinsler are both out for the Texas Rangers right now, but I don’t think there’s a need to rush.

It would be very easy to say, “Holy crap, the season’s going in the tank, get them out there…NOW!” when lamenting the injuries to these two Texas superstars.  However, what’s the rush?

Hamilton and Kinsler were hurt in Spring Training–you know how I feel about that–but have a couple weeks til Opening Day.  If they don’t see action again until then…who cares?

Is it going to ruin the Rangers‘ season if we have their two best players sitting at the end of Spring Training?  Nope.  Is it going to affect someone like Vlad Guerrero?  Nope.

The Rangers might be pushing a little hard by saying about Hamilton:

“There is a realistic possibility that he is only going to play a handful of games here, but we are being given every confidence that he should be able to play here at some point.”

Why push it?  Do these men have to prove something to us?  To the Rangers?  Do these men need to show us something we haven’t seen in order to know if they’re ready for the regular season?  That would pretty highly irregular since they are both PROVEN players.

For all that is holy Texas…slow down already.

With Josh Hamilton making the comment:

“but if I had to play today, I’d play”

I don’t care if it’s all sunshine and roses.  I know Josh Hamilton is a good guy, but he needs to understand–you don’t HAVE to do anything.  He needs to “Manny philosophy” which is:  do whatever the hell you want.

Only, Josh Hamilton wouldn’t abuse it–he’d just keep himself healthy.  His character should be enough to say, “Let’s give him all the time he needs”.

I respect Josh for his grit, but caution the Rangers to not push too hard.  162 games is a LONG time.
