Just when Phillies fans started to get over the shock of Shane Victorino and Hunter Pence being traded, it was announced that pitcher Joe Blanton was being moved. He will be joining Shane as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He was placed on waivers and the Dodgers claimed him off them. In return the Phillies will get a player to be named later or cash. He was scheduled to start tonight but instead Kyle Kendrick will start.
Before the trade deadline Blanton was rumored to be traded to the Baltimore Orioles. It was said that the price was set to high. So it doesn’t come as that to much as a surprise that the Phillies are moving him, although the Phillies may need his pitching later if a playoff miracle were to happen.
As a Phillie Blanton was 34-25 with a 4.47 ERA. He would have been a free agent at the end of the season with the Phillies.
