Happy Chase Utley Day

by Rebekah Milsted on June 27, 2012

Today is the day that Philadelphia Fans have all been waiting for. Chase Utley is finally stepping back out on the field. He had missed all of Spring Training and the first seventy six games of the season. Meaning he had not stepped on the field since September 2011. He missed all of the games because of his chronic knee injury. Though according to Chase, his knees are stronger than ever.

Chase was not expected to join the team until July second. He must feel ready to go. Last night he made his final rehab appearance in Lehigh Valley last night for the Triple A Iron pigs. Utley went 2-5 with a home run.

Tonight Chase of course will be playing second base. He will most likely be batting third.  Who knows if he will be playing the whole game but him playing something is better than him playing nothing at all.

Just hopefully the pressure of the fans and media doesn’t get to him. Utley’s presence in the dugout helps the team motivation and attitude. Hopefully Utley’s return will get the team back on track.
