Apparently, it’s a new day for Roy.
Roy Halladay…basically…he…isn’t…playing…around.
I know I said Spring Training was a waste of time, but it is still baseball and Roy is pitching for an ERA of .90. Wow!
The best part is that he feels as though he’s not “all the way there” yet. In fact, he feels he’s got alot of work to do.
“I’m still battling a few little things that kind of come and go. Just consistency, sinker, throwing quality strikes as often as I would like. Just a couple bad walks today. The ball is kind of running away from me. Just getting more consistent with that, especially getting ahead early in the count and being able to stay ahead.”
“But physically, I feel good. It’s just that consistency. Getting it there every time, but physically is always important right now.”
Umm, you’re throwing a .90 ERA and you feel like you’ve got consistency issues? You feel like it isn’t there yet? I know you’re seeing some schlubs and dudes who will get sent to the Minors–or already have been sent down–but that’s a pretty bold statement from someone who’s as good as you are Roy.
Personally, I’m amazed that he can be so self-evaluative. However, he knows that he isn’t on a crappy team anymore and that there are REAL expectations in Philly.
It kind of seems unfair, but the Phillies made the signing of the millennium. Halladay will get two starts in every playoff series for the Phils and he’ll probably win every game he pitches in the postseason.
Enough said. Wow!
